Week of Aug. 25 - 31

Saturday: Visited the St. Paul Farmer's Market and came away with enough fantastic produce for three dinners!
  • Eggplant and Summer Vegetable Gratin, Everyone, p. 280
  • Fresh edamame
Sunday:
  • Gnocchi, Lidia's Table, p. 210
  • Tomato Sauce III, Classic Italian, p. 95
  • Broccoli rabe
Monday: Carrie in Columbus, OH for a conference
  • Italian lentil soup (improvisation)
  • Green salad
  • French Peasant Bread (Breadsmith)
Tuesday: Carrie in Columbus, OH for a conference
  • Vegetable Pinto Bean Chili with Pico Sour Cream, Southwestern, p. 152
    • Benjamin: Tasty, but probably not tasty enough to justify the time and labor that went into it. I was pleased with the pinto beans: soaked for two whole days, they came out plump, intact and creamy.
  • Corn with Cumin, Chile and Tomato, Everyone, p.364
Wednesday: Carrie in Oakland, CA for a conference
  • Leftovers
Thursday: Carrie in Oakland, CA for a conference
  • Leftovers
Friday:
  • Fettucine with Blender Pesto, Classic Italian, p. 140
    • Benjamin: Our basil plants needed a bit of pruning, and what better way to take advantage?
  • Skillet Cauliflower, Lidia's Family Table, p. 268
    • Benjamin: This might be my new favorite cauliflower preparation -- slowly browned in olive oil with garlic and hot pepper flakes.
